Today we received more than just mail. An campaign worker was walking around town hanging campaign flyers on doorhandles. For us, this was not long after the mailman also delivered our daily dose of political mailings.
We didn't get a chance to talk to the the person walking around town. We don't know if he was a volunteer or a paid campaign worker. By the time we realized what the person was doing, he was gone. We are pretty sure he is not from our town though.
A presidential campaign or their super PAC handing out printed materials instead of mailing them is somewhat unusual for our area. Especially when they are mailing stuff at the same time (let alone the same day). We do get the occasional local or even state candidate that does this, but not usually a national campaign.
Something I do find interesting in this latest mailer is the personalized printing. It costs a lot more to personalize a mailer to just one person. So its not really done that often. And when it is done, it is done in a way that saves as much money as possible. So they tend to leave an area blank where they can simply put your name in black ink (just like how they do the mailing address) That is the easiest and cheapest way to do it.
Today's mailing has my wife's name on the last page. As I looked at the mailing more closely, I wonder if the text balloons could also be personalized. It would be interesting to know if anyone else that received this mailer had different text inside the balloons.
