Introducing Doug Burgum
Several candidates have entered the race over the last month, but Doug Burgum is the only one to have sent us any snail mail so far. And he didn't spare any money for this one either. The heavy duty paper, decent print quality, and size of the mailer stands out from several of the previous mailings from the other candidates so far.
This piece is definitely an introduction, and he is going to need every bit of it as his name recognition is one of the lowest even though he lives closer than many of the other candidates.
When Doug Burgum announced his candidacy he did the normal couple days of visits around Des Moines, but has not been seen really since. Perhaps this mailing is a sign he will be doing more visits. I don't know, we will have to see. I can't find any scheduled Iowa stops for him anytime soon, but then I can't find hardly any scheduled stops for any other candidate besides Ryan Binkley.
Several of the bigger named candidates are most likely spending some time in other states and will find their way back here for special events or not long before the first debate.
Speaking of the first debate. Some of these candidates may have to do some significant work if they want to qualify for it. I am a firm believer that not all of these candidates are serious about running for President. Why are they in the race then? That is a great question.
