Doug Burgum is the governor of North Dakota. He was born in 1956 and was raised in tiny Arthur, North Dakota. He was the youngest of three siblings and his father died during his freshman year of high school. Burgum worked as a chimney sweep to help pay his way through North Dakota State University and then earned an MBA from Stanford University. Doug won his first term as governor in 2016 and was reelected in 2020. Burgum has three adult children and is currently married to Kathryn Burgum. Doug Burgum suspended his campaign on December 4, 2023.
