Attacking and Praising Your Opponents
Is the Trump campaign getting a little worried? You don't attack people unless you are afraid you might lose to them.  We haven't had a lot of attack ads this year.  The last (and only) attack ads were from a Trump Super PAC several months ago when DeSantis was publicly polling very well and increasing his numbers.  Then the MAGA Super PAC went all out with a media blitz attacking DeSantis on Social Security and Medicare as well as getting all their surrogates to go out on tv and start talking trash.  The DeSantis campaign took the hits and has been slowly growing back ever since.

Then the Trump campaign went silent.  They had no need to worry about any other candidates according to the polls, and their actions showed it.

But recently we started getting Trump mailings.  And now they have followed it up with another attack on DeSantis.  And it's a similar attack to what they did last time.  The Trump campaign must have internal data that shows DeSantis doing well in Iowa.  There really isn't any other reason for them to start spending money on attacking DeSantis again.

And while they attack him, they are also inadvertently praising him.  Or at least they are praising DeSantis' Super PAC mail designers.  When you copy someone else, it usually means you thought what they did was a good thing.  Notice these two ads?

The one was done by the Never Back Down Super PAC back at the end of June.  The other came two days ago from the Make America Great Again Action Super PAC.  Although the snippets of text are definitely not the same, the overall theme of the piece is similar.

The two front runners' Super PACs definitely understand what one of the most important topics in this campaign is going to be.  Yet the Trump campaign seems more interested in attacking DeSantis instead than telling us what their own candidate's stances are.

And then there is Nikki Haley sending us another postcard telling us that another issue we are facing in America is because of China.  Her mailings aren't wrong per say, but is it too much to ask for just ONE mailing that does not contain the word "China"?
