A New Leader Emerges
The race to the top of the Snail Mail Championship has a new leader. Nikki Haley's Super PAC, SFA Fund, Inc. has become just the third organization to hold the title of "Most Prolific Mailer".
The season started off with Perry Johnson's campaign holding the top spot until the Never Back Down Super PAC supporting DeSantis entered the race with a significant number of mailings. Never Back Down has held the title for several months until this week. SFA Fund tied Never Back Down on Thursday and then took over sole possession of first place today.
Not to be outdone, a few other organizations are also trying to reach the top spot. And with two months still to go until the Iowa Caucuses, it is still anyone's game.
Burgum's Best of America PAC is one of those other organizations.
And tied with them is the AFP Super PAC that is in favor of any candidate other than Trump.
And then there is the newcomer. Today we received our very first mailing from a non-profit 501(c)(4) issue advocacy organization named "And to the Republic". They tend to support conservative Governors and both Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis would fall into that list.
Their mailing today is perhaps a mix in style between the AFP and Finish the Fight style of mailings in that it is not supporting a particular candidate in the Presidential Race. But it is attacking Trump in this case on the issue of Abortion.
I honestly believe this is a good tactic. Trump can argue he put in place judges that took down Roe v Wade, but his own comments about abortion have not been pro-life the past several months.
Obviously this mailing is an attack on Trump thinly disguised as a mailing in support of Reynolds. In reality, it is a mailing supporting DeSantis without ever bringing up the DeSantis name. And to the Republic has been around for a while, but this is our first mailing experience with them.
I wonder how many additional snail mail newcomers will enter the race before the Iowa Caucuses in January.
